Client

The Tata Central Archives is the corporate business archive of the Tata group. One of India's leading corporate archives, it stores and preserves all material relating to the genesis and development of Tata companies, including memorabilia related to its leading personalities and corporate activities.

Brief

To curate a collection of quotes by Tata luminaries like JRD Tata, Ratan Tata, among others. The client wanted TIC to create a book of quotes that would appeal to all age groups. The idea was to design a book that was simple and elegant, and present it as an inspirational – and aspirational – collection of life-lessons.

The client, TR Doongaji on behalf of Tata Central Archives, was extremely passionate about the project and very exacting in the high standards he expected in terms of process and output.

Process and outcome

To create an elegant and stylised book, the team brainstormed intensely on several aspects -- from the font to be used to the colour, type and thickness of the paper, and the appropriate size of the book. The recommendations were approved quickly. Creative details like a hard bound exterior, golden crest on the cover, embossed logo and golden gilded edges added to the look of elegance and sophistication. Designed and developed in record time, the final book exceeded the client's expectations and now serves as a collector's edition. The book titled Good Thoughts Good Words Good Deeds: A book of Tata quotes was launched by N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, in the presence of Harish Bhat, Brand Custodian, Tata Sons; and T R Doongaji, Honorary Advisor, Tata Central Archives.
